The Boston Area Unsung Luncheon

This event is presented by Winslow Sargeant in partnership with the Titus Foundation, whose commitment to youth development and community empowerment aligns with the values celebrated at this luncheon.

The Boston Area Unsung Luncheon Will be held on May 30, 2026,  and is established to formally recognize and celebrate coaches, referees, and unsung heroes whose dedication, integrity, and service have positively impacted youth across the Boston metropolitan area. These individuals often serve without public recognition, yet they play a critical role in shaping character, discipline, teamwork, and opportunity for young people.

The luncheon will honor individuals across three broad categories:

  • Coaches – Individuals who have demonstrated long-term commitment to mentoring, training, and developing youth through sports or organized activities.
  • Referees and Officials – Individuals who have upheld fairness, sportsmanship, and safety while serving youth leagues and community programs.
  • Unsung Heroes – Volunteers, organizers, mentors, and supporters whose behind-the-scenes efforts have strengthened youth programs and community engagement.

Selection Criteria

Honorees will be selected based on the following criteria:

  1. Length of Service: Demonstrated sustained involvement in youth-focused activities, generally spanning multiple years.
  2. Impact on Youth: Clear evidence of positive influence on youth development, including mentorship, leadership, and personal growth.
  3. Community Contribution: Meaningful service to the Boston-area area youth community beyond minimum expectations or formal obligations.
  4. Integrity and Character: Consistent demonstration of fairness, respect, ethical conduct, and positive role modeling.
  5. Peer or Community Recognition: Nominations supported by peers, parents, participants, or community organizations.

Selections will be made by a review committee using nominations submitted by community members, organizations, and youth program stakeholders.

Recognition Luncheon

A formal recognition luncheon will be held on Saturday May 30th, at Sorrell & Lime 986 Blue Hill Ave Dorchester MA, 2:00 – 6:00pm. The luncheon will provide an opportunity for community leaders, families, and youth participants to gather and publicly acknowledge the achievements and contributions of the honorees.

The program will include:

  • Welcome remarks and opening reflections
  • Presentation of honorees and citations
  • Brief testimonials highlighting individual impact
  • Closing remarks and expressions of gratitude

Conclusion

This event affirms the Boston community’s commitment to recognizing service, leadership, and dedication to youth development. By honoring coaches, referees, and unsung heroes, the luncheon reinforces the values of mentorship, fairness, and community engagement that strengthen the next generation.

Nomination Form Summary

The nomination process is designed to ensure a fair, transparent, and community-driven selection of honorees. Nominations may be submitted by parents, peers, youth participants, community leaders, and affiliated organizations.
Each nomination form includes the following required elements:

  • Nominee Information: Name, role (coach, referee, or community supporter), organization or program affiliation, and years of service.
  • Nominator Information: Name, relationship to nominee, and contact information.
  • Statement of Impact: A written narrative describing the nominee’s contributions, influence on youth, and significance to the community.
  • Category of Recognition: Coach, Referee/Official, or Unsung Hero.
  • Supporting Endorsements (optional): Additional statements or references from community members.

All nominations are reviewed by the selection committee in accordance with the established criteria.
